Vacancy: Post doctoral position

Within the framework of the Program for Promotion and Development of
Area Studies, the Institute of Cultural and Social Anthropology is seeking
applications for a postdoctoral position focusing on Southeast Asia (preferably mainland).
This position is subject to final approval from the Federal Ministry of Education and
Research (BMBF).
The advancement of academic qualification is intended. A post doctoral
research project in the field of “Constructions of Self and Other – reconfigurations of
cultural identities” in Mainland Southeast Asia is envisaged. Furthermore, the institute is
to be supported in research and teaching (4 hrs/week). The position also
includes cooperation in the interdisciplinary area studies network of Southeast Asia in
Freiburg.
Candidates are expected to have completed an excellent PhD in cultural
and social anthropology on the subject of Southeast Asia and to actively
participate in an interdisciplinary and international team (particularly including political science,
economics,history, and sociology).
The position is limited to four years. Salary according to TVL 13.
